Eleanor loves fortune cookies - and so do I. So, I thought for Valentine's Day this year I'd make up a fun batch of personalized ones for her, some cousins and kids that I watch! I even found some cute Valentine's Day chinese take-out boxes at the dollar section of Target yesterday to package them in. I have made them once or twice before (not with messages though) and enjoyed it, although I do remember having to work fast to fold them before they cooled.
So, I am trying to come up with some cute ideas for the fortunes for kids ages 2-5. So far I have come up with things like....
"there's a yummy snack in your future"
"you bring smiles to all around you"
"you will get lots of hugs and kisses"
"let's color!"
Eleanor would enjoy something like "you'll become an amazing trapeze artist!"
Do you have any ideas?? Also, do you think I should put the child's name at the start of every fortune too or just leave them generic? And should I type them out or hand write the fortunes? Thanks!

What a cute idea! I always loved having things with my name on it when I was a kid, so I think names on a few would be cute :)
What about mixing in some letter knowledge with lines from the song "A, You're Adorable"? Or maybe use the letters of her name to list great things about her in each cookie. Oh, or maybe some flights of fancy like "let's imagine that we're flower fairies at 4:00 today".
Can you share your fortune cookie recipe with us?
Thanks for the thoughts and ideas.
Cathy, I'm using this recipe from Martha Stewart again: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/fortune-cookies
It never occurred to me to try to make fortune cookies--how cool! I very much want to try it now.
Along the lines of "Let's color," "Let's sing," "Let's dance." You could do a lot with that. :)
